Don′t Sell Arms to China, Europe! Since the massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989, there has been an embargo on selling arms to China. Some time ago, the EU changed its policy and now wants to start selling. The US is firmly against it, and that was apparently a tense discussion during the visit by President Bush in Europe recently. Now China has passed a new law authorising the use of military force against Taiwan should they attempt to formally leave China. Taiwan, a free and democratic nation, left China in reality a long time ago. The US takes its resposibility and will protect Taiwan from Chinese force. It is immoral of Europe to arm China in general - its regime is still a communist dictatorship - and particularly harmful now. We may actually see a military conflict where the US wants to protect freedom and China fights it - with European weapons. If nothing else, the new law passed by China should make the EU change its policy back to keeping the embargo.
