Manifesto for Reform. Today, the British think-tank Reform publishes its "Manifesto for reform". They argue that only reform on a greater scale than currently offered by any of the political parties will improve the performance of public services and open the way to significant reductions in tax. It prescribes to a large extent lower taxes, smaller government, free enterprise in welfare services. It contains lots of interesting statistics and also strategies for reform. This is proposed for Britain, but is much the same as the rest of Western Europe needs too. The Manifesto Concludes:

"Real reform of the public sector would mean improved services and lower taxes. It would mean a better life for the professionals who run services, freeing them from political interference. And it would create a more equitable society, where for the first time the many would be empowered with the kind of choices that are currently available only to the few. The time for a new approach is long overdue."
