Evil Strikes Again. The terrorist attack in London came as the G8 summit started, which is hardly a coincidence. It is still unclear how many died and were injured, but it was a big attack with a series of almost simultaneous explosions. It is now also reported that al-Qaida supported the attack.

British PM Tony Blair made a statement a while ago, shaken but clear and determined, saying that he would leave the meeting and go to London: "It is particularly barbaric that this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa... It is important, however, that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people and the desire to impose extremism on the world."

There will be those again who say that it is Britain′s and Blair′s own fault that this happened. Britain is highly engaged in the fight against terrorism, not least in Afghanistan and Iraq. This attack is probably an attempt to weaken the British, not least by creating an opposition among ordinary people. After the attack in Madrid, Spain withdrew from Iraq. A victory for the terrorists. Britain won′t do that, thanks largely to Blair′s determination. But such voices will be raised, ultimately destructive for the fight against terror and for the defence of freedom.
